Beachwalk was approved

Beachwalk Development WAS APPROVED:

The Beachwalk proposed rezoning and site plan was approved by e 3/2 vote at the September 16 Board of Commissioners meeting.

We had an impressive showing with over 100 members of the community pulling for us. Unfortunately, the vote just missed by one for a 3/2 decision to allow the Beachwalk development with 50 homes. We thank Commissioners Hansen and Ericksen for their support. It seemed unusual that other commissioners would not vote with Greg Hansen whose district we are in. On advice of counsel, it's unlikely we would win an appeal after this vote.

Have faith though. We showed that we are a determined force and we feel very strongly about our unique community. We have an opportunity to create an ordinance to give us more protection so we don't have to fight against every high density development that comes up.

Thanks to everyone who stayed over 3 hours and to all of the wonderful speakers who stood up and spoke so passionately. Stay strong and be ready for the next one.

The Sep 16 video is available here, starting 2 hrs, 28 minutes in.
